PM Vishwakarma Yojana was launched on 17 September 2023 by the Ministry of MSME with a ₹13,000 crore outlay for FY 2023-24 to 2027-28. It supports 18 traditional artisan and craftsperson trades with skill training, a ₹15,000 toolkit voucher, ₹500/day stipend during training, and collateral-free loans up to ₹3 lakh at concessional 5% interest. Beneficiaries also get a Vishwakarma certificate and ID card recognising their craft.

Eligibility criteria
- ✓Indian citizen aged 18 years or above on registration date
- ✓Engaged in one of the 18 specified trades — carpenter, blacksmith, goldsmith, potter, sculptor, cobbler, mason, basket/mat weaver, doll/toy maker, barber, garland maker, washerman, tailor, fishing net maker, boat maker, armourer, locksmith, hammer & tool kit maker
- ✓Self-employed artisan in unorganised sector — must work with hands and tools
- ✓Family-based business; only one member per family eligible
- ✓Family = self + spouse + unmarried children
- ✓Government employees and their families are NOT eligible
- ✓Beneficiaries of similar credit schemes (PMEGP, PM SVANidhi, Mudra) in last 5 years are not eligible
- ✓Must verify identity through Aadhaar-based eKYC

How to apply — step by step
- Visit nearest CSC (Common Service Centre) — registration is only through CSC
- Provide Aadhaar and mobile for biometric eKYC
- Fill 3-stage verification: Gram Panchayat / ULB → District Implementation Committee → Screening Committee
- On approval, receive Vishwakarma ID and certificate
- Complete 5-day basic training; collect ₹15,000 toolkit voucher
- Apply for Tranche-1 loan (₹1 lakh) after basic training
- After repayment + standard digital transactions, apply for Tranche-2 (₹2 lakh)
Important dates
Continuous registration through CSC. Scheme period: FY 2023-24 to FY 2027-28. Loan disbursal after training completion and bank approval.
Common mistakes to avoid
- ✓Trying to register from home — CSC visit mandatory
- ✓Claiming a trade you don't actually practise — verification fails
- ✓Multiple family members applying — only one allowed
- ✓Recently took Mudra/PMEGP/SVANidhi — 5-year cooldown applies

Is the ₹15,000 toolkit money given in cash?
No. It is given as an e-voucher that can be used at empanelled vendors to buy tools relevant to your trade.
Can I apply online from home?
Registration is currently only through CSC for biometric eKYC and trade verification. You cannot self-register from home.
What if I have already taken a Mudra loan?
You cannot avail PM Vishwakarma loan if you have benefited from PMEGP, PM SVANidhi or Mudra in the last 5 years.
