SSC MTS (Multi Tasking Staff) is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission to fill non-gazetted Group C posts of MTS and Havaldar (in CBIC and CBN) across central government offices. Tasks include record keeping, dispatch, peon duties, and basic clerical work. The exam has two sessions of CBT and a PET/PST for Havaldar.

Eligibility criteria
- ✓Indian citizen (or Nepal/Bhutan citizen, or Tibetan refugee per rules)
- ✓Age 18–25 years for MTS; 18–27 years for Havaldar (as on 1 August 2026)
- ✓10th pass from a recognised board
- ✓No upper qualification — graduates can also apply
- ✓Havaldar (CBIC/CBN): additional PET (1600 m walk for men / 1 km walk for women) and PST (height/chest)
- ✓Age relaxation: SC/ST +5, OBC +3, PwBD +10, ex-servicemen as per rules
- ✓Final-year 10th students can also apply if they pass before DV

How to apply — step by step
- Register on ssc.gov.in with email and mobile
- Fill MTS application, choose centres and post (MTS / Havaldar)
- Pay fee ₹100 (free for women, SC/ST, PwBD, ex-servicemen)
- Download admit card and appear in Session-1 (Reasoning + Maths) and Session-2 (English + GK)
- Havaldar candidates also clear PET/PST
- Final merit prepared from Session-2 marks; DV and joining follow
Important dates
SSC MTS 2026 notification expected May–June 2026. Application window ~30 days. CBT exam usually August–September. Final result by end of 2026 or early 2027. Confirm dates on ssc.gov.in.
